Why You Can't Stop Eating Chocolate!

by Michael Russell

Have you ever thought about why you like to eat chocolate so much? Most of us would answer "because it tastes so good" but there is much more to it than that. There are some studies that show what kind of physical effects you can have eating certain types of chocolates. Chocolate stimulates your taste buds in a way that makes you want to come back for more. It also gives you a good feeling of well being, that your body wants to experience again. Chocolate is well known to be a mood lifter, it stimulates the brainwaves and lowers the stress levels. This could be the reason why lots of people stuff themselves with chocolate when they are upset or angry. Actually they are unknowingly helping themselves out by eating chocolates. When your lower your stress levels, the more relaxed you become, which in turn is a plus for your health.

Many are unaware that Chocolates raise antioxidant levels in your blood, which helps to fight against foreign bodies that can cause illnesses. With less of these foreign bodies in your blood, you are less likely to get ill from viruses or other things that could affect your health during the year.

Then there is this wonderful feeling that you get, when consuming your favorite candy bar or other chocolate treat. Eating chocolate puts you into a much better mood, bringing you in touch with the small child within. Whether it is a good peanut butter filled chocolate, chocolate covered raisins, or white chocolate, you will experience deep satisfaction as you indulge yourself. It's not easy to explain, because only true chocolate lovers can understand this.

Giving someone a gift of chocolates can be a very rewarding experience indeed. You can be sure that the person who receiving it will enjoy it many, many times over and be grateful with every single bite. Today there are a tremendous variety of gifts made from chocolate. Chocolate flowers and products of every nature can be purchased. Many of these gift products are priced low making them an attractive option. Some companies are specialized specifically in this area, they personalize and ship items direct for you.

One thing to remember though is that there can be some negative effects on your body. These effects can be experienced should you consume chocolate to often. Chocolate has a very high level of sugar, which can quickly cause you to lose the good feeling the next time you look in the mirror! Extra sugar can result in extra calories and fat, which can lead to overweight if you don't exercise regularly. One of the biggest problems in our society today is obesity. Eating chocolate could put you into this category and increase your risk for many health problems.

So when you are enjoying your very favorite chocolate candy bar or talking to another chocolate lover, you can think about why you love to eat it so much. The obvious answer is the great taste, but now you know that there is so much more to it. There are physical reasons for this love of chocolate, that almost force your to eat it, which you just can't fight against. And fortunately for you, chocolate is the champion. Sweet surrender! Hey does someone have some chocolate?

5 Simple Tips to Healthier Eating

by Shari Hearn

It seems there's always a new diet treatment hitting the market, or talk of a magic pill that will eliminate fat. Whether you choose to partake in any of these new treatments or not, it's wise to remember the basics of healthy eating.

Just what is "healthy eating?" Is it only fruits and vegetables? Is it never eating sugar? It is eating only organic foods? Well, to some people, that is healthy eating. But, for the purposes of this article, when I refer to healthy eating I'm referring to balancing the food you eat to stay healthy. By keeping your diet balanced, you'll find you are giving your body the vitamins and minerals it needs to stay strong. This in turn gives you energy and helps you maintain a healthy weight.

What are some basic tips for healthy eating?

1. Don't skip any meals

That might sound odd to some people who believe you can only lose weight when you eat less. But, in fact, skipping meals is not healthy, and can actually keep you from maintaining your desired weight. Why? Well, one reason is that your metabolism increases when you eat. And, when the metabolism is increased, you burn more energy. Eating 3 meals with snacks in between is the ideal way to maintain both energy and a healthy weight. What's that, you say, a snack in between? That's right; a snack in between smaller meals is actually good for you. First, it can help you not feel so hungry at meals. And, when you don't feel so hungry at meals, you tend not to eat as much. And, second, eating 5 smaller meals a day helps prevent the large spikes and drops in your blood sugar associated with fewer meals a day.

2. Chew slowly

This advice may seem a bit corny, but it makes sense. When you wolf down your food you aren't giving your brain time to register when you’re full, which takes about 20 minutes. By the time you finally get the signal it's too late and you've eaten far more than you needed to. Therefore, if you chew your food slowly it slows down your eating.

3. Learn how to prepare foods

Instead of deep frying, try grilling, stir frying, microwaving, baking, boiling and, in the case of vegetables - raw. And, if you really insist on using butter for cooking, try a butter substitute. I use a yogurt butter which is half the fat of regular butter, but tastes the same as real butter. If you use butter to add flavor to food, try something else for a change, like lemon, vinegar or dried herbs and spices. Before you eat any type of meat, be sure to trim it of fat and skin.

4. Avoid alot of sugar

If you can eliminate sugar, good for you, but, if you can't, at least cut down. Drinks that contain sugar are a major source of empty calories. If you plan to drink sugary drinks, don't go overboard - limit yourself to one a day.

5. Skip the diet foods

If you follow healthy eating guidelines, there's really no need to buy prepared diet foods. A good number of these foods contain chemicals and additives that can be counterproductive to a healthy diet. A healthy portion of "real" food beats a heaping of prepared diet food any day, and doesn't leave you feeling deprived.

Eating healthier doesn't have to be difficult. The key is to be mindful of what and how you’re eating. Noticing is the first step in changing behavior.

Health is the most valuable of all possessions

by Katarina Bader

Health is the most valuable of all possessions, for with health one can attain anything else within reason. A few of the great people of the world have been sickly, but it takes men and women sound in body and mind to do the important work. Healthy men and women are a nation's most valuable asset.

It is natural to be healthy, but we have wandered so far astray that disease is the rule and good health the exception. Of course, most people are well enough to attend to their work, but nearly all are suffering from some ill, mental or physical, acute or chronic, which deprives them of a part of their power. The average individual is of less value to himself, to his family and to society than he could be. His bad habits, of which he is often not aware, have brought weakness and disease upon him. These conditions prevent him from doing his best mentally and physically.

This abnormal condition has a bad effect upon his descendants, who may not be born with any special defects, but they have less resistance at birth than is their due, and consequently fall prey to disease very easily. This state of impaired resistance has been passed on from generation to generation, and we of today are passing it on as a heritage to our children.

About 280,000 babies under the age of one year die annually in the United States. The average lifetime is only a little more than forty years. It should be at least one hundred years. This is a very conservative statement, for many live to be considerably older, and it is within the power of each individual to prolong his life beyond what is now considered old age.

Under favorable conditions people should live in comfort and health to the age of one hundred years or more, useful and in full possession of their faculties. Barring accidents, which should be less numerous when people fully realize that unreasonable haste and speed are wasteful and that life is more valuable than accumulated wealth, human life could and should be a certainty. There should be no sudden deaths resulting from the popular diseases of today.

In fact, pneumonia, typhoid fever, tuberculosis, cancer and various other ills that are fatal to the vast majority of the race, should and could be abolished. This may sound idealistic, but though such results are not probable in the near future, they are possible.

Overview Of Medical Assistance For Persons With Disabilities Ages 3-21

by Christine Dugan

Medical Assistance (MA), or Medicaid, is a federal/state insurance program that pays for health and treatment services for children and adults with disabilities. Some of these services include such things as health screenings, therapies, behavioral support services, transportation, and home healthcare. Medical Assistance was authorized on July 1, 1969, under the Social Security Act, Title XIX, Grants to States for Medical Assistance Programs. It is funded partly by the states and partly by the federal government. The code of federal regulations, Title 42, The Public Health and Welfare, is another important source of law that states the federal regulations pertaining to medical assistance. Medical Assistance is a free program and anyone can apply for Medical Assistance, however, not everyone with disabilities is eligible for Medical Assistance benefits. Each state establishes its own eligibility standards, benefits package, provider requirements, payment rates, and program administration under broad federal guidelines. This paper will provide an overview of Medical Assistance eligibility requirements, services, and the rights of children that are Medical Assistance eligible, ages 3-21.

In order to meet the federal MA qualifications, the child with disabilities must meet the U.S. citizen/alien requirements for MA, fit into one of the categories that MA establishes, and meet income and resource requirements (Pennsylvania Health Law Project, 2003). In order to be MA eligible in Pennsylvania, one must be a resident of the state or a covered immigrant (Pennsylvania Health Law Project, 2003). There are several categories within MA that cover persons with disabilities and they often have different requirements (Pennsylvania Health Law Project, 2003). Children with disabilities that are eligible for Social Security Income (SSI) are automatically eligible for MA.

Children with disabilities that are categorized as severely disabled and are not on SSI are also eligible for MA, regardless of their parents’ income and assets and if their own personal income is less than the poverty level (in 2003 was $749/month). The Department of Welfare calls this category the “loophole” category (Pennsylvania Health Law Project, 2003). In this category, if a child’s income exceeds the poverty level, the child is still possibly eligible for CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) or may be eligible for a “Waiver” program if the child requires a higher level of care (Pennsylvania Health Law Project, 2003). Most children in Pennsylvania with severe physical, mental, or behavioral disabilities qualify for MA services (Education Law Center, n.d.).

Although a child with disabilities may be receiving special education services and have a particular diagnosis, it does not mean that the child meets the disability standards for Medical Assistance (Parents Involved Network of Pennsylvania, n.d.). The eligibility standards for special education are different from the MA disability standards. However, a child’s Evaluation Report (ER) can be an excellent source that documents factors that are considered in the Medical Assistance disability standard (Parents Involved Network of Pennsylvania, n.d.).

Children with disabilities that qualify for MA receive what is called an “ACCESS” card, which they can utilize for the purchase of a variety of prevention and treatment services. Anything that is medically necessary must be provided and children that are eligible are entitled to these services. Except through a “Waiver” program, MA does not cover any educational or rehabilitation services. MA services are free and there are no co-pays or additional charges. If a family has private medical insurance, this must be used first for the child with disabilities (Education Law Center, n.d).

Examples of behavioral health services covered by MA include residential treatment facilities, behavioral services (wrap-around services, therapeutic support staff), medication for behavioral problems, and partial hospitalization programs (Education Law Center, n.d.). Examples of health services that are covered by MA include nursing care at home or at school, therapies, communication devices, medical equipment, and personal care services for children who need assistance with self-care skills, such as eating or dressing (Education Law Center, n.d.). MA must also provide eligible children with any services that are necessary to meet the child’s physical or behavioral needs during the day, such as a nurse, a specialized hearing aid, or a therapeutic support staff person. Many of these services, however, are also considered “related services” based on IDEA regulations, and school districts are responsible for listing these services on the child’s IEP even if the services are being covered by MA (Education Law Center, n.d.).

MA recipients have certain rights in Pennsylvania. The following list of rights is an excerpt from the Pennsylvania Law Project’s website:

1. The right to receive and file an application on the same day that you ask for it.

2. The right to bring someone with you to help you with the MA application.

3. The right to have an application completed by a friend, relative, or official of a hospital, agency, etc. if you are ill or physically or mentally unable to do so.

4. The right to translation services and translated written material.

5. The right to receive coverage beginning with the 3rd month before the application, if you qualify for retroactive MA.

6. The right to have DPW quickly issue a MA card if you have ‘an immediate need for medical services.’

7. The right to receive medically necessary treatment and services without discrimination based on national origin, race, color, sex, or disability.

8. The right to free choice of MA enrolled health care providers unless you are enrolled in the Health Choices Program.

9. The right to be treated with dignity and respect.

10. If you are homeless, the right to apply for MA even if you have no address.

11. The right to have the MA programs explained to you and to receive help in determining the best possible coverage for which you qualify.

12. The right to prior notice of, and a fair hearing to contest, any decision by the MA agency or an MA HMO to deny, terminate, or reduce benefits.

(Pennsylvania Law Project, n.d.)

All decisions regarding the rejection of MA or the reduction or termination of MA must be provided to recipients in writing and with instructions on how to appeal. Recipients have 30 days to file appeals, but if the appeal is filed within 10 days of the date of termination or reduction notice, MA benefits must continue until there is an outcome to the appeal (Parents Involved Network of Pennsylvania, n.d).

Medical Assistance provides valuable health and treatment services to children with disabilities in order to help them to make meaningful progress and to achieve greater independence. As educators, it is important that we provide families with resources about Medical Assistance so that they can pursue the potential benefits and services that the program provides.

The Cause of Back Pain

by Michael Colucci

While there are many factors that can contribute to back pain, one of the most common problems is poor posture. Some people get into the habit of sitting or standing improperly, and over time this contributes to pain in their backs. Understanding the causes of back pain will allow you to avoid it, and will lead to a healthier and more active lifestyle.

When someone first begins feeling pain in their back, they can easily correct it by improving their posture. However, if you don't correct your posture your joints will eventually begin to wear out over time. Studies have shown that in the long term, the ageing of joints in your back can be just as extreme as the effects of suffering a back injury.

People who continue to have poor posture will eventually feel the effects of ageing. Their poor joints will force them to stoop over, and their mobility will be greatly decreased. With the rising costs of healthcare, it will be expensive to correct such problems, if it is even possible to correct them at all. Is it not better to correct your posture while you still have the chance?

The vast majority of the deformities seen in the elderly are a result of poor posture. Often, other parts of the body are affected such as the lungs, which will not be able to get a proper amount of oxygen due to the upper body being bent over. This may also eventually cause problems with your stomach and other organs.

While many people consider weak back joints to be just a normal part of ageing, by taking a few simple steps everyday people can avoid back problems in the long term. By standing up at least once a day and bending backward, people can avoid back pain.

Doing this simple routine on a daily basis can keep your from being impaired when you get older. Walking or running can help people to relieve pain in their lower backs. Because most people drive or work in an office, they have less time for running or walking. Exercising is an important part of keeping both your back and the rest of your body healthy.

Back pain is something that millions of people suffer from, and there is not reason for them to continue. By exercising and sitting correctly, many of these problems can be avoided. Getting treatment for the problem once it has become out of control will be costly. It is much less expensive to just practice good posture and exercise on a regular basis.

Sitting improperly is one of the leading causes for back pain. Once you begin having problems in your lower back, sitting improperly will exacerbate the problem. It is also important to stand up and lay down properly also. You may find that you suffer pain in your lower back only at certain times, such as when you sleep or stand for extended periods of time. If this is the case, it can be easily corrected by practicing good posture.

Obesity Grows in Adults and Children

by Michael Russell

Obesity is often used for comic effect but the actual definition of condition of being obese is increased body weight caused by excessive accumulation of fat. Calculating Body Mass Index or BMI can determine the difference between overweight and obese by using height and weight of a particular person. Both terms are considered beyond the weight that is considered healthy for a given height. BMI categories are:

• Underweight = <18.5
• Normal weight = 18.5-24.9
• Overweight = 25-29.9
• Obesity = BMI of 30 or greater

Childhood obesity has grown considerably in recent years. Roughly 30% of adolescents are obese due to lack of exercise and poor diet. Among the risks from being obese are diabetes, high blood pressure, trouble sleeping and increased risk of heart disease not to mention low self-esteem that can arise from being overweight or obese. Studies have shown that a child who is obese between the ages of 10 and 13 has an 80% chance of becoming an obese adult. Obesity can be caused by many different and complex factors including biological, genetic and behavioral. Managing obesity must start with determining which factor category you or your child fits in, then start a weight-management program, changing eating habits and increasing physical activity are the perfect start. Obese women have a higher chance of dieing from cancer of the gallbladder, breast, uterus, cervix and ovaries than non-obese women. Obesity can also lead to an increased risk of many obstetric and gynecological complications for women. These include infertility, abnormal menstruation and miscarriage and birth problems for both mother and child.

The term morbid obesity is defined as a disease of excess body fat, which can adversely affect general health, mobility and quality of life. Persons with morbid obesity are typically about 100 pounds overweight and have a Body Mass Index (BMI) of 40 or more. Statistics indicate that over 60 million American adults are morbidly obese, with a BMI of 40 or more, while another 9.6 million have a BMI of 35-40. The Health risks associated with Morbid Obesity are significantly higher than being obese and are a huge risk factor for hypertension, cardiovascular disease, musculoskeletal disorders, diabetes, respiratory problems and some cancers.

Diet and exercise are the best ways to combat obesity. Changing eating habits, less snacking and making healthier choices are also needed to make changes to your weight and health. Don't be taken in by those "fad diets" and metabolism stimulators. Weight Loss takes some work and effort on your part but the results are worth it. When looking at morbid obesity you might want to consult with a doctor about the possibility of Bariatric services. Bariatric medical weight loss programs are for those people with serious weight problems, which do not respond to diet and exercise alone. Bariatric surgery also is performed for those unable to loose weight by more conventional means. This includes stomach resection, lipectomy (surgical removal of fat) and liposuction. Therefore should not be used lightly.

Juvenile Arthritis (part 1) Why Does Arthritis Affect Children?

by Wendy Owen

Many people wonder why children can develop arthritis. It hardly seems fair. Kids haven't spent years rushing around a football field or spent their working lives laying concrete…

Juvenile arthritis (JRA) is not a disease of wear & tear. JRA can be genetic disease, affecting children whose immune system is prone to viral attack. In fact Juvenile Arthritis is actually a group of diseases which affect children

There are three main types of Juvenile arthritis (or Juvenile Chronic Arthritis). Pauciarticular, Polyarticular and Systemic. In this article we'll concentrate on Pauciarticular juvenile arthritis.

The most common form of juvenile arthritis is Pauciarticular Juvenile Arthritis. This accounts for more than half the cases of arthritis in children. This disease seems to affect girls more than boys and usually affects the larger joints knees, ankles, elbows, and hips, these joints can become swollen and painful. It affects younger children, mainly under the age of four.

Pauciarticular juvenile arthritis can also affect the eyes and should be watched carefully by an eye specialist as significant eye damage can occur as a result.

Watch your child carefully if he or she develops a limp. This can be the first sign your child has developed Pauciarticular juvenile arthritis. An accurate diagnosis unfortunately can't be given much before six weeks, however medical attention should be sought as soon as there is any suspicion your child may be affected. This is most important to rule out other diseases with similar symptoms such as rheumatic fever.

The treatments typically offered are those that reduce pain and inflammation for example aspirin. Although aspirin is better tolerated by children than it is by adults, it isn't without side effects.

Pauciarticular juvenile arthritis can respond well to natural arthritis treatments too. Try Omega 3 oils (found in oily fish or in capsule form) and see if this can lower the dose of your child's medication while still maintaining their comfort level. A good diet with all the main food groups will help too.

Exercise is vital to prevent stiffness and maintain your child's health. Exercise which doesn't further irritate the joints is the best. Swimming is excellent for this, stretching exercises are great too. If the whole family joins in it can be fun! Exercise releases endorphins into the body, endorphins are a natural antidote to pain and depression.

Juvenile arthritis is unique in that a child's joints are still growing and developing, a large part of treatment is making sure this happens as normally as possible and to monitor this growth.

And now for some good news at last. Many cases of Pauciarticular juvenile arthritis can spontaneously disappear as you child grows older. This has to be the best outcome of all!

This article is not intended to replace medical advice. Always seek medical advice for any childhood disease.

Treating Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

by Douglas Hanna

Unfortunately, there is no single Chronic Fatigue Syndrome treatment or medication that can provide total symptom or pain relief or improved function.

Instead, most doctors recommend a combination of drugs and non-drug therapies.

One of the most helpful non-drug ways to cope with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is through a change in lifestyle. This can include reducing stress and overexertion, changes in diet, gentle stretching exercises, and the use of nutritional supplements to treat sleep, pain and other specific symptoms.

It is possible that a carefully-supervised program of physical therapy may also help, but with no strenuous physical activity. Most CFS experts counsel a very moderate approach to exercise and activity management to avoid over-activity which can mean additional stress to your body.

One of the most important parts of treating CFS is the diagnosis. Many doctors are hesitant to to give a diagnosis of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for various reasons. The Centers for Disease Control cautions that it's important to get an appropriate and accurate diagnosis of CFS so your doctor can provide treatment and further evaluation.

It is also thought that delays in diagnosis an treatment may be associated with poorer long-term outcomes. In other words, the longer it takes to be diagnosed with CFS, the lower are the chances you will be able to find long-term relief. For example, the Centers for Disease Control's research has shown that those who have CFS for two years or less were more likely to improve.

Helping yourself

There are ways you can help yourself if diagnosed with CFS. For example, you could keep a daily diary to identify those times when you have the most energy and can get the most done.

As noted above, you should keep up some level of activity within your abilities. Your doctor should be able to help you plan an exercise program to help maintain your strength at whatever level is possible. Exercise can definitely help both your body and your mind.

You should also give yourself permission to recognize and express your feelings such as sadness, anger and frustration. It is okay to grieve for the energy you have lost.

Don't be shy or timid about asking your friends and family for support. You might also look for support groups in your area.

If you find your memory an concentration are affected, learn to keep lists and write notes to remind you of important things. Be sure to give yourself more time for activities that require concentration. There is also medication available that may help you sleep better, which might help you with your short-term memory and concentration problems.

Douglas Hanna is the editor and publisher of the web site, http://www.chronic-fatigue-advisor/ He is also the author of more than 125 articles on a variety of subjects.

Reduce Weight And Lose Body Fat Forever - 10 Commandments

by Chris Chew

Want to know how to reduce weight fast and lose that weight forever? Here are the Ten Commandments you need to do to reduce weight and keep body fat away permanently.

1) Cardio Exercises – Do your cardio exercises frequently. These can be any exercises that work up your heart rate to the extent that you are huffing and puffing for at least 20 – 30 minutes. Do your cardio exercises 5-6 times a week if you want to reduce weight or 2-3 times a week for weight maintenance.

2) Build Muscles – Muscles burn calories even when you are not doing anything but resting. The more muscle mass you have the more calories you will burn a day and in the course of over a period of time, the calories you burnt will add up very substantially. Building muscle mass is one sure way of losing body fat forever.

3) Eat Carbs Early – Take your meals with carbs earlier in the day and cut down on carbs on later meals. This is to prevent unused carbs from turning into body fat when you sleep and to regulate insulin level.

4) Don’t be too afraid of fats – The fats in your diet that are bad for you are saturated and trans fat. So replace these bad fats with unsaturated fat and essential fatty acids (EFAs) and these good fats will keep your body fat and fat related diseases down. But do take your fats in moderation as after all, they are still calorie laden.

5) Complex Carbs – Choose your carbs. Avoid starchy and refined carbs such as pasta, pizza, white rice and white bread. Replace them with brown rice, brown bread and high fiber carbs like green leafy vegetables.

6) Food Portion – Decide how much you want to eat at each meal and then keep to it and do not eat anymore when that portion is consumed. Eat slowly to let your body signal to your brain that you are full. This usually takes about 20 minutes. Extra food means extra and calories mean extra body fat if the food is not converted to energy.

7) Avoid Canned Or Boxed Food – These food are usually high in trans fat, sodium, sugar and simple carbs all of which will help you to gain weight and body fat.

8) Eat Often – By eating often, say at every 3 hourly intervals, your body will think that food is abundant and therefore less likely to store body fat for emergency such as a famine. But do bear in mind to keep the portion small so as not to consume more calories than you expand.

9) Get 8 Hours Sleep – Research after research has shown that people with less sleep are more prone to being fat.

10) Do Not Skip Meals – Skipping meals will slow your metabolism and forcing your body to use your muscles for energy instead of your body fat. This is a vicious cycle, the less muscle you have, the more your metabolism slows down.

There you are. By committing to these 10 commandments, not only will you reduce weight but will lose your body fat forever.

Pilates: The Sought After Exercise Regimen for Dancers

by Ev Margolin

Pilates is an excellent exercise for dancers because it helps move the body to optimum health with a smooth range of flowing movement - while building strength and agility. But what makes Pilates such a sought-after exercise regimen? Joseph Hubertus Pilates developed this highly acclaimed restorative exercise system approximately 80 years ago. As a child, Joseph was often prone to illness. He caught many afflictions including Rheumatic Heart Disease. While suffering many of these dreadful afflictions he sought to strengthen himself through physical activity. He later took up boxing, circus performing and also became a gymnast to try to restore his strength and improve his health. Actually while taking part in these sports, he developed his own style of exercise, which helped him regain his health. The years of regaining his personal strength and health led to him using these same methods on others who were also ill.

During World War I (WWI) while interning in England he worked as a nurse in the hospital implementing his strict exercise system on the patients who were ill. And during this time Spanish influenza took over the lives of many. However, the patients under Joseph’s care survived the disease, which brought the attention of many leaders – specifically Hitler who requested his services to train his troops. However, Joseph declined and continued his exercise system to restore the health and fitness of his patients. Joseph later left England to start a new life in America. It is here that he met his wife Clara who at the time, was a trained nurse. They later married and opened up their own studio using the skills they had acquired over the years – specifically Joseph’s successful fitness exercise program. He and his wife helped restore the bodies of regular citizens who flocked to their studio, but became even more recognized as the two who could restore the bodies of dancers and theatre workers. They helped many with injuries, rehabilitation, general fitness and posture.

At the time, Joseph also developed several pieces of equipment that were very effective at improving the flexibility, strength and stability of his patients. The word spread rapidly about their studio and Pilates slowly became known for what it is today – one of the safest and most effective ways at obtaining optimal health and fitness. That is why many movie stars like Madonna, Daisy Fuentes, Julia Roberts and Brooke Shields have praised its effectiveness. Well, actually you can see the effectiveness of Pilates by simply looking at the physiques of these beautiful celebrities. Pilates helps maintain the shapes of these movie stars by integrating body and mind.

The execution of simple, yet small repetitions of exercise over the common repeated exercise repetitions make Pilates a unique yet effective way to restore the body to the best level of health and fitness. It’s a refreshing and therapeutic way to add flexibility and strength to your body while improving your posture. Want longer, leaner muscles? Pilates is a must for both fitness enthusiasts and those looking for a new way to get in shape. Dancers will definitely find it one of the best workout routines to build strength and agility, which are essential to dance.

Evan Margolin shares his passion for salsa through his premier salsa studio DancsSF, in the Bay Area. Evan says, “If you want to achieve the Dancer’s body, you have got to try PilatesforDancers.” (http://www.pilatesfordancers.com/)
